Details and Services
The accommodation
Just three hours drive north of Johannesburg in the diverse Waterberg region lies the exceptional Leobo Private Reserve. Leobo (meaning chameleon in Northern Sotho) is a fitting name for this 20,000-acre private estate. With no daily programs or time restrictions and a team of staff and activities at your disposal, you are made to feel completely at home here, indulging in as little or as much as you please. One of a handful of sole-use private estates in South Africa, a holiday at Leobo is often referred to as an ‘apres-safari’, with activities on offer that go far beyond a typical ‘game drive’.
This malaria-free destination overlooking the Palala Valley is home to the award-winning Observatory Private Villa. Designed by award-winning architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, this remarkable house is ideal for couples or for families. Supplementary rooms for additional guests, family or nannies are available at Leobo Lodge on the reserve which sleeps a maximum of 18. With a heated infinity pool and a jacuzzi on the sun deck, the villa is the perfect spot to relax and recharge. You can also enjoy a spot of stargazing from the Observatory’s Dome which houses a fully automated 20-inch telescope.
