Colina Verde, or ‘green hill’ in Portuguese, is a large two-storey villa in a beautiful verdant location nestled amidst the dunes and forests of Machangulo, opposite the Bay of Maputo. A stay here offers you the chance to relax and explore a unique and secluded part of Mozambique, whilst enjoying beautiful views of the Indian Ocean.

Resident managers Graham and Lucy and their team of local staff are always on hand to give expert advice and guidance, whilst the villa’s chef will prepare amazing dishes for you, using as much local produce as possible.

The decor is tasteful, with colours of the sea and the earth in abundance. These natural colour schemes, combined with stunning individual pieces of furniture crafted from local wood, give the villa a truly relaxing and tranquil vibe.

Meet the locals and learn more about the area, visiting the school and clinic. Walk to the village and enjoy a sundowner drink on the jetty while taking in the view of Maputo and watching the local boats unloading their cargo.

Deep Sea Fishing & Salt Water Fly Fishing

Embark on a fishing excursion, exploring the waters surrounding the peninsula with an expert guide. Colina Verde has an active 'Tag and Release' programme and provides fishing tackle for all types of fishing from trolling to fly-fishing and spinning.

Whale Watching

From late June to October, humpback whales migrate up the coast of Mozambique to calve in warm equatorial waters. Take a boat trip to the open ocean for a close encounter or watch them breech and play from the decks of Colina Verde.

Maputo Special Reserve

Drive out to Maputo Special Reserve with an expert guide. Enjoy a lavish picnic close to one of the inland lakes where you can spot crocodiles, hippos and birds. The reserve is home to many species of bird and mammal including zebra, wildebeest, antelope, giraffe and elephants.

Where is it?

Machangulo

The nearest international airport to Colina Verde is Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. The quickest and most spectacular way to transfer from Maputo is a 15-minute trip by helicopter, landing just a few minutes from the house. Alternatively, you can transfer by light aircraft to Machangulo followed by a 25-minute drive, or take a 75-minute speedboat transfer from Maputo Harbour to Machangulo.
